About the Woodworker & Webmaster Paul was born and raised in Southern California where he grew up and later became a police officer. In
1983, the 23 year old was injured in a diving accident and was paralyzed
from the waist-down. Since the accident, he uses a wheelchair for mobility.
This however, did not and does not stop Paul from living life to its
fullest. For years Paul has enjoyed woodworking and creating things with his hands. From the days of working with his dad in the garage with his toy tool set, to wood shop in school, woodwork has always been fascinating and interesting to Paul. Even after the accident, his love for working with his hands and wood continued. When he moved to Oregon in 1994, he continued to pursue his passion of woodworking. Paul currently lives in the Willamette Valley, in the foothills of the Cascades, where his workshop is also located. The workshop and some of the tools have been adapted so he can work sitting, from his wheelchair. His attention to detail and creation of unique and different items are his trademark. Some of his products include music boxes, turned boxes, bowls, vases, pens, perfume pens, key chains and other turned gift items. Paul has modified his benches and created work arounds so he can do all his work from the wheelchair. There has been a lot of trial and error, and just seeing what works. One of Paul's top priority is safety. Even though he is creative and comes up with great solutions, everything is thought out very carefully, with SAFETY FIRST IN MIND. Paul started off with craft items, making them in his shop and selling them at craft shows, and having fun with his hobby. He started off with a borrowed scroll saw, and a few hand tools, and he feels there is not a lot needed to get started. "All you need is a basic scroll saw, sander, and a few hand tools, and you can make any type of simple, small to large craft item you want." Paul created this website to share his knowledge and experience with others who have a disability. "I just want to give a little back, and encourage others." |
