Turning a pen - switch to left-handed

Here I am turning a pen on the mini-lathe. Note that I am using a left handed grip. With being stationary in the chair, you have to adapt to the tool in this case. I move the lathe around for different cuts somewhat, it is not stationary.

I also change grips to get a better cut when going the other direction. I have seen people who stand, try to avoid changing hands, and it can really tie you up, get you in very uncomfortable positions and you can still have problems not getting a good clean cut. Changing your grip is a great way to do this, and it does take some practice, but after a while, it becomes second nature. Many of the pros I have heard talking, recommend this method.
